God did not create the universe, says Hawking

September 2, 2010 No comments »

HawkingLONDON (Reuters) – God did not create the universe and the “Big Bang” was an inevitable consequence of the laws of physics, the eminent British theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking argues in a new book.

In “The Grand Design,” co-authored with U.S. physicist Leonard Mlodinow, Hawking says a new series of theories made a creator of the universe redundant, according to the Times newspaper which published extracts on Thursday.

“Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist,” Hawking writes.

“It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going.”

Some Words For Hawking…

Isaiah 44:24-25 (New King James Version)
    Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer,
      And He who formed you from the womb:

      “ I am the LORD, who makes all things,
      Who stretches out the heavens all alone,
      Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself;
      Who frustrates the signs of the babblers,
      And drives diviners mad;
      Who turns wise men backward,
      And makes their knowledge foolishness;

Job 26:7 (New King James Version)
 He stretches out the north over empty space;
      He hangs the earth on nothing.

Job 38:4 (New King James Version)
 “ Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
      Tell Me, if you have understanding.

Romans 1:28 (New Living Translation)
Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.

Matthew 24:12 (New Living Translation)
Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.

Proverbs 16:4 (New King James Version)
The LORD has made all for Himself,
      Yes, even the wicked for the day of doom.

James 3:1 (New King James Version)
My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.

Afenifere Leader, South West PDP Back Jonathan

August 25, 2010 No comments »

Ibadan — Ahead of Saturday’s meeting of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the South West, to take a common position on whether to support President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011, some leaders of the zone, yesterday, threw their weight behind the President’s ambition.

Former Governor of the old Oyo State, Dr Omololu Olunloyo, and Afenifere leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, endorsed the President’s ambition while founder of Odua Peoples Congress, OPC, Dr. Fredrick Faseun, however, urged Jonathan to look before he leaps.

Nigerian airlines approved for direct US flights

August 23, 2010 No comments »

ABUJA (AFP) – The United States has granted Nigerian airlines permission for direct US flights, officials said Monday, less than a year after a Nigerian allegedly tried to blow up a Detroit-bound plane.

US ambassador to Nigeria Robin Renee Sanders lauded Nigeria on achieving so-called category one status, but also said the country needed to do more to ensure the regular use of full-body scanners.

“There are more things to be done … to ensure 100 percent body checks at international airports,” she said, but added that patdowns were being employed effectively.

Miss Haiti gives hope to devastated country

August 17, 2010 No comments »

Miss-HaitiNEW YORK – The first Miss Haiti in 22 years is not the typical contestant you’d find in a beauty pageant. She is a young lawyer who speaks four languages and is happy to be able to help her country after the horrific earthquake that devastated the impoverished Caribbean nation last January.

Sarodj Bertin had a privileged childhood in Puerto Principe until age 9, when her mother, lawyer and opposition leader Mireille Durocher Bertin, was gunned down after announcing the creation of a political party that would compete with that of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide in the upcoming elections.

Her father then moved Sarodj and his other children to the neighboring Dominican Republic, where the 24-year-old beauty, who considered her mother her idol, studied law and worked for the International Alliance for Haiti’s Recovery.

My Take on Illegal Aliens

August 8, 2010 No comments »

Most, if not all, Nigerians who reside in USA flew in by air.  That means:

  1. They worked very hard to save enough money to buy required round-trip ticket.
  2. They obtained entry visa from US Embassy or Consulate in Nigeria
  3. When they entered USA, they were granted entry.

Alien_asgard_stargateThat is not to say that some of those people have not overstayed their welcome.  Point is, the negative stigma associated with illegal border-crossing does not apply to them.

In the final analysis, though, whether or not one crossed a border illegally, or overstayed their welcome, all are now illegal aliens.

Many illegal aliens go through untold pain and suffering.  Obviously their employer knows their immigration status.  Many of these so-called employers are extremely unscrupulous.

The illegal employee now has to work for less than minimum wage.  If they refuse, immigration will mysteriously appear at their home, arrest them, and eventually deport them.

So they keep quite, do what they are told to do, like an obedient slave.

Most get paid in cash, so they pay no taxes.  In some cases, the employer even takes out taxes and pays them in cash.  Makes one wonder if these taxes actually get to Uncle Sam.

These so-called illegal aliens do most of the work that many Americans will not do.  If they (Americans –  born, naturalized, or green-carded) do it, they will demand to be paid a whole lot more money than what the illegal alien earns.

Everybody Loses.

1. The illegal alien is cheated, and is chronically unhappy.
2. Uncle Sam gets stiffed.

Do some these illegals eventually join drug rings out of anger?  Someone should investigate.  Really!

What to do?

  1. Declare amnesty.  All illegal aliens who have jobs should apply for work permit.  The government promises NOT to arrest them.  The government promises to give them work permit.  The government also promises NOT to prosecute their employers (who were clearly breaking the law when they hired the illegals) provided they keep employing these people paying them, at least, government mandated minimum wage.  This should be the extent of the amnesty.
  2. Give these people work permit so they can begin to earn, at least minimum wage.
  3. Deport anyone who is illegal and has not had a job in the last 2 (two) years.

Everybody Wins.

  1. The illegal alien is no longer illegal.
  2. He/she now make more money.
  3. Uncle Sam’s coffers will swell.

After Amnesty!

  1. Make it easy for people to apply for work visa while they are still in their native country.
  2. Enable Employers to see work-force from outside USA if they cannot find suitable labor for their business.
  3. Any one caught without proper documentation MUST be deported and encouraged to go through proper channels.
